Attaching Roadie Coach to your instrument

Modified on Mon, 31 Jul, 2023 at 11:57 AM

The first thing you will need to do to start using Roadie Coach is to attach it to your instrument. Doing that correctly will ensure you are capturing the best possible sound.

To attach Coach to your instrument, follow these steps or watch the tutorial video below:

  • Select the most appropriate clamp size based on the width of your instrument. Note: Roadie Coach comes with three clamps of different sizes to suit different instruments:
    • Clamp 1: 1.3 to 2.5 inches (3.3 to 6.3 cm) --> for instruments such as ukuleles and electric guitars
    • Clamp 2: 2.4 to 3.7 inches (6.1 to 9.4 cm) --> for instruments such as acoustic guitars
    • Clamp 3: 3.5 to 4.8 inches (8.9 to 12.2 cm) --> for instruments such as large acoustic guitars

  • Ensure the clamp latch is in the unlocked position and insert the clamp to the desired length
  • Position Coach over your instrument leaving a 1mm gap for easy closure of the latch and make sure that the contact microphone has full flat contact with your instrument's body
  • Secure the clamp by closing the latch

Note: If the latch feels hard to close, do not force-close to avoid breaking it. Instead, wiggle the clamp arm to unlock the gear for easy closing.

Here is a tutorial video on how to attach Roadie Coach to your instrument:

Note: If your instrument has a flat back, ensure that the flat pad is attached to the clamp you are about to use. You can remove and re-attach the flat pad with the help of a flathead screwdriver. If your instrument has a round back, follow the instructions in this link to attach the ball-head pad instead.
