Wind and unwind a new string with Roadie 4

Roadie 4 isn’t just your regular tuner. It is an all-in-one tool that comes with a built-in string winder and metronome.

The String Winder feature of Roadie 4 helps you change strings quickly and efficiently and gives you full control of the winding speed. To access this feature:

  • Scroll to Winder on the main menu and press the right button to select it
  • Scroll up or down to wind and unwind at different speeds

Restring and tune in one step

String changes are a little less tedious now. Roadie 4 can very quickly wind your new string to tension with a motor speed of 110 RPM and then tune it up, all in one smooth step!

Here’s how to do it:

  • Scroll to Main Menu > Winder and use the winder to remove your old string
  • To restring and tune in one step, navigate back to Main Menu > Tuner > Select your instrument (Pro tip: make sure Auto-Detection is enabled so that you don't have to manually select which string you're tuning)
  • Thread in your new string, then click and hold the right button and Roadie 4 will automatically tighten your string
  • When the string is not loose anymore and can vibrate, release the right button and Roadie 4 will stop winding. Be careful not to snap the string by tightening it too much
  • Pluck normally to continue tuning and Roadie 4 will beep and vibrate when the string is in tune
